Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 August 2026

These terms govern your use of Stud Finder Detector for iOS (the “app”) and this website, both operated by Dawid Kowalski (“we”, “us”). Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not accept them, delete the app.

1. What the app does

The app reads your iPhone's built-in magnetometer and shows the strength of the magnetic field near the top corner of the phone. A rise in that field usually means ferrous metal — a screw, a nail, a metal stud, a steel pipe — is close by. It also includes a bubble level driven by the device's motion sensors.

2. The app is an aid, not a safety device

Read this section before you drill.

Always confirm with a second method — building plans, a mains voltage detector, a capacitive stud finder, a small pilot hole, or a qualified tradesperson — before you make a hole. You are responsible for the work you do. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage to property, injury, or loss arising from decisions you make using the app.

3. Age and eligibility

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and able to accept these terms. If you are a minor, an adult must accept them for you.

4. Free use, ads and Pro

The app is free to download. Free use runs in limited detection sessions and shows advertising. Watching a rewarded video grants additional scanning time.

Pro removes the time limit and the ads. It is sold either as an auto-renewing weekly subscription or as a one-time lifetime unlock. The price, currency and any trial are shown in the app before you confirm, and are set by Apple for your storefront.

5. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

6. Refunds

Apple is the merchant of record and handles every refund. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly, though if something is broken, tell us at karlieeski+studfinder@icloud.com and we will try to fix it and support your request. Nothing here limits statutory withdrawal rights you may have as a consumer in the EU, UK or elsewhere.

7. Affiliate links

The app and this site link to stud finder tools sold by other retailers. Some are affiliate links, so we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. No company pays us to be listed, and the picks are based on published reviews. The app states this next to the links.

8. Licence and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, under Apple's standard end user licence agreement. You may not copy, sell, rent, reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, remove notices from it, or use it to break the law or infringe anyone's rights.

9. Intellectual property

The app, its name, icon, design and code stay ours or our licensors'. These terms transfer no ownership.

10. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue the app or any feature, and we may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the change. We do not promise the app will be uninterrupted or error free.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or 50 USD, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty is between you and us, not Apple, except that Apple may refund the purchase price where required.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Poland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Poland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there.

15. Severability

If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the unenforceable part is narrowed to the minimum extent needed.
